Happy Wednesday ladies, we’re half way there to the freakin weekend! Today I want to talk about my spring cleaning methods and one of my favorite new adds. It’s time for out with the old and in with the new!
Trends change all the time, but that doesn’t mean you can’t wear things on repeat or even ones from last season! That’s the beauty about style, everyone does (or should) do it their own way, mix and match how you like and add your own flare to it, which is what makes your style yours!
What I typically like to do is really get quality staple items that I absolutely love and a lot of the times I will keep them for a few seasons. What I consider staples are shoes, jeans, handbags, sunglasses and accessories. These are ones you can wear on repeat and typically don’t go out of style for quite some time. I mean, look at distressed jeans, they’ve been around for quite a few years now and I don’t forsee them disappearing anytime soon. How could they? They’re so cute and edgy!
So I sift through some really worn down staple items I have, and I’ll either give to a friend or donate. If there’s something I find that’s in good condition still but I’ve just grown tired of, I’ll add it to Poshmark.
If you’ve never heard of Poshmark, you must get on this app asap! It’s a perfect way to get rid of some items, yet retain some return on that investment as well. I will get into a full post on Poshmark at another time, but in a nutshell you can post gently used items from your closet right from the app on your phone to sell! (Tip: namebrand items sell the best)
So when cleaning out my closet I had about 4 trash bags full to donate and maybe 30 items to sell on Poshmark. I know, I have a shopping addiction but it’s okay, I’ve come to accept it…I mean that’s the first step right?! So now my closet is looking a little bare boned so I’ve taken a few trips to the malls and done some online shopping. I have two trips coming to plan for (more on that later) so I’ve got lots of summer and spring items to fill my closet with! Yay!
One that I want to share with you is this gorgeously patterned Aztec tunic from The Basement Boutique . I typically don’t wear a lot of tunics, they don’t appear flattering to me since I have a short and curvy physique, but I couldn’t pass up on the gorgeous pattern this had. I just knew right away how I would style it!
These earrings and bracelet are from Charming Charlies, which btw is one of my all time favorite places to shop for accessories! We have a large store near us in Colonie Center, NY and I have to refrain myself every time I visit to not buy absolutely everything! I love the color turquoise so I jump at any chance I get to style with it!
The Aztec Tribal Patterned Tunic is only $24.00! Be sure to use my discount code: TRENDYTRAVELS15 at checkout for an additional 15% Off! It does run a little large and loose fitting so be sure to check out the size chart. I am wearing a small because of it, which typically I wear a medium/large.
I’m not one to go only after labels, although I do own a few, Michael Kors is generally my go to for handbags and shoes. I just love how they are affordable, always trendy and great quality! I seem to be drawn to their style and color combinations as well. Which by the way, Dillards is having a HUGE Mothers Day sale on many Michael Kors items! I’ve snagged a few myself!
